5 Tips For Putting Motivation on Steroids

Motivation is the engine that propels positive change in one’s life. Having an unquenchable thirst for success comes from knowing exactly what you want and doing whatever it takes to attain it. It helps you stay on track with your goals since inspiration is what gets you through the tough times.

Here are five top tips to help blast off your motivation!

1. Imagery Makes it Real

Make a vision board with photos of your intended outcomes and stick to it religiously.  What weight do you want to be? What kind of activities do you want to participate in? What is your bucket list for active living? Put this vision board in a place where you see it several times a day. I would suggest across from the couch in the living room to remind you that it’s time to get up off that thing!

2. Use Your Anger

Getting furious with where you are today will help you make positive changes in your life. If you have a blasé attitude about change, you won’t have a strong desire to make a positive change. Decide why you wish to alter your behaviour. Are you tired of being short of breath when you go to get the mail? Would you like to join that bowling league but can’t find the energy, or the flexibility? Do you hang out with people, and here I include your spouse, who live the same sedentary life as you do? Get mad as hell at yourself and don’t take it any more. Make a list of everything that frustrates you about your physically pedestrain lifestyle, and who is to blame for it. I’m guessing it’s you. And don’t forget to blame or reward yourself if you don’t or do take action.

3. Value Time

Start appreciating the value of time as if you’re in your final days. Time is one of your most valuable and limited resources, and it cannot be replenished. Either utilise it or let it go to waste. If you want to affect change, you’ll have to put in a lot of effort. Starting today, try to spend less time doing things that aren’t important. All of these activities will take time away from you and will not help you accomplish what you desire. This includes watching television, reading the newspaper, staying up late to socialise, being a slave to social media, and shopping. You have valuable time on your hands that you can put to better use by investing in YOU. Take note of the following: You only have a limited time left on this planet. It’s impossible to estimate how much time you have. However, the most important thing is to make the most of the time you have. So, make the most of your time by beginning RIGHT NOW.

4. Conformity Challenge

Are you a conformist who seldom strays from the herd?  If you follow the crowd, you’ll get the same results as everyone else. So, do you want to just go along with whatever the people surrounding say and do? You may either be a follower who simply follows orders, or you can be a leader who leads by example and has the confidence to be who you are and do what you want to accomplish. If that’s the case, you’ll have to behave more like a tiger than a sheep in order to succeed.

Honestly, are you truly interested in being a sheep? I mean, don’t we already have a surplus of sheep? If you want to be a sheep, then find yourself a herd that is active and inclusive, and you don’t have to buck the sedentary trend on your own.

5. Fear Not

Fear is the driving force that tries to put a halt to your progress and take away your hopes and goals. However, it will only be able to do so if you allow it to. Which of your aspirations, your happiness, and your soul will you let this cruel destructive impostor crush? Are you afraid of what others will say about your morning walk? Your areobic class? The new wind suit for those cool cycling days? How you fit, or don’t, into that new suit?

Or is it your fear of failure? Not being able to work your way up to that 10 k bike ride. Or having people blow past you on your walk or hike? That has all happened to me and folks let me tell you, once the old ladies go by you like you are standing still, you get humble fast and don’t worry about it again. Just admire their fitness level and continue on with what is best for you.

No Fear!

In Conclusion

Change for the better is fueled by motivation. This comes from having a clear vision of what you want to achieve and a burning desire to put in the effort to obtain it. It helps you stay on track with your goals since inspiration is what gets you through the tough times.

The world is eagerly awaiting your special contributions. So what’s the point in making it wait any longer?
